Typically when potential clients call, they are usually “shopping around” for their live musical entertainment for their event. In most cases, they have never had to hire a band, individual musician or any live entertainment before. Many of them will be prompted to call based on what they see or hear from a website/social media post, or a review they read somewhere. It is the later reason why our calendar fills with bookings.. It can’t be stated enough that word of mouth is the most effective form of advertisement, especially when it comes to contracting the services of musicians. It should also be mentioned that we often get called to perform at events because we’re a known entity and have a proven track record of performing a variety of music for listening and dancing for generations of audiences. Whether being asked to play for a repeat client or a new client, we continue to do what we do because in the end, our clients receive top notch service from a band that loves playing for dancers and listeners of all ages and demographics.
I don’t post videos or produce recordings because there isn’t any way I can accurately display the vast repertoire we perform and the attention to detail we provide through a computer screen or smart phone. I compare it to finding a great carpenter/contractor to build a new home. The best ones don’t need to buy ads, their products show and tell everything one needs to know about their work. So, when you’re “shopping around” for your musical entertainment, be sure to do due diligence and find the bands/musicians who consistently receive positive reviews, and who will return phone calls and emails promptly, and who will comply with your needs. Most importantly, ask for a list of references and contact those references for honest feedback. In the long run, it’ll spare you the aggravation and give you assurance that your event will be successful and memorable.
